  • Americans Isner and Young take the court in Newport on Wednesday

    7/6/11 4:22 AM | Cheryl Murray
Americans Isner and Young take the court in Newport on Wednesday John Isner will take on French veteran Arnaud Clement in the Campbell’s Hall of Fame Tennis Championships.

    John Isner vs. Arnaud Clement

John Isner and Arnaud Clement met once before, on the hard courts of Auckland prior to the Australian Open. The American won, but Clement gave him a tough battle.

Clement is ranked just 169 in the world, but he still manages to successfully qualify for many main tour events. He will fight hard against Isner, who at 6 feet 9 inches is more than a foot taller than Clement, but the American should prevail with his monster first serve intact.

    Donald Young vs. Tobias Kamke

Donald Young is still waiting for his breakthrough on the ATP tour. The once-heralded American junior is ranked 113 in the world and is forced to qualify for many main-tour events. Young had a good win over Chile’s Paul Capdeville in the first round and he will take on Tobias Kamke of Germany in the second round.

The two men have never met before. Young will have the support of the crowd, but Kamke has a couple of grass court wins this season, one of which came at Wimbledon.
