American John Isner will try to make amends for his early Wimbledon exit with a showing in Newport on grass.
John Isner vs. Karol Beck
John Isner’s ranking sits at No. 46 in the world, but the American is capable of playing like a top 20 player. Isner suffered a surprising second round exit at Wimbledon, after defeating Nicolas Mahut for the second straight year, but he ended up losing to Nicolas Almagro in the next round. Slovakia’s Karol Beck is ranked 102 in the world. This isn’t the easiest opponent Isner could have drawn. Beck made it all the way through qualifying at Wimbledon and into the third round where he lost to David Ferrer. Isner’s serve should pull out the win, though.
Tommy Haas vs. Michael Berrer
Oft-injured Tommy Haas has been out of the game long enough that he now owns a ranking of 728 in the world. The 33 year-old has played 3 tournaments in 2011 and has won exactly no matches. First round exits at Roland Garros, Halle and Wimbledon does not give a good outlook for the veteran German. His opponent will be countryman Michael Berrer, who won a single match each at Queen’s Club and s’Hertogenbosch should be poised to advance on Tuesday. He is ranked 83 in the world, and should have plenty of game on grass to get past a player as rusty as Haas is.

Karlovic already lost. I'd be surprised of John lost though.
