China's tennis men may need some inspiration from their own women's player if the Davis Cup Asia zone relegation tie next weekend is to turn into anything but a rout for the visiting Australians in Beijing.
Australia received a double lift with eager veteran Lleyton Hewitt ready to join the squad in the long trip into Asia and teenaged Bernard Tomic also on board after making a first major impression on court with a Wimbledon quarter-final.
Coach Patrick Rafter will warn his side not be be complacent against the hosts. Chinese men have never figured in tennis while their women now own the French Open title thanks to Li Na.
The winner of the Davis Cup tie July 8-10 moves into a September World Group playoff. "It's a very winnable tie for us and we go in with a very strong team," said Rafter. "The Chinese are awkward, they are very disciplined. They do the fundamentals very well, they play very well at home.
"Our biggest problem is if we are complacent and we take them easy. That will be the one thing that I will jam down their throat they will be very tough (to play against)."
Joining Hewitt and Tomic will be Chris Guccione, Marinko Matosevic and Peter Luczak.

Rafter called the Chinese team ... awkward?
