British hope Andy Murray advanced to the round of 16, after fighting his way through to a four-set victory over veteran Ivan Ljubicic. The World No. 4 moves on to face 17th seed Richard Gasquet in the next round.
Fourth seed Andy Murray came through a tricky match against Ivan Ljubicic late Friday, having held on to win in four sets, 6-4, 4-6, 6-1, 7-6(4). The Scot tallied 15 aces and 51 winners through two hours and 56 minutes of play.
After splitting the first two sets, Murray put together a 5-0 advantage in the third set. The 24-year-old led 3-2 in the fourth, but was broken as he served at 5-4. From 2-3 in the tie-break, Murray upped his level to three match points at 6-3. The World No. 4 missed his first match point, then cracked a forehand winner on the second.
He is slated to take on World No. 13 Richard Gasquet in the round of 16. Gasquet defeated Simone Bolelli in the third round, 6-3, 6-2, 6-4.
