Roger Federer cruises past David Nalbandian in straight sets on Saturday at the All-England Club. Federer is through to the fourth round and he awaits either Nicolas Almagro or Mikhail Youzhny.
Roger Federer booked his spot in the Wimbledon fourth round on Saturday afternoon with a 6-4, 6-2, 6-4 victory over David Nalbandian. Federer won his third consecutive straight-set match and once again turned in a near-flawless performance, recording 14 aces without double-faulting while hitting 36 winners to just 14 unforced errors.
The third-ranked Swiss took control right from the start by breaking in the third game of the first set as Nalbandian's forehand broke down. Although he gave back the break to level the score at 3-3, Federer broke right back for a 4-3 advantage. This time Federer made no mistake with the lead in hand, losing only one point in his last two service games of the set.
With momentum in hand, the six-time champion raced away with the second. He broke right away for a 1-0 advantage and never came close to returning any breaks. Federer broke again for good measure in the seventh game of the set and served it out with ease at 5-2.
Nalbandian still enjoyed a solid Wimbledon showing on the comeback trail from a hip injury, and he was not about to go down without a fight. The 23rd-ranked Argentine led by a break at 3-2 in the fourth, and even after giving two breaks back he did not concede anything. Nalbandian saved three match points in improbable fashion with his opponent serving at 5-4, but Federer finished the job on his fourth chance with a service winner.
Nalbandian wrapped up his effort with 23 winners and a mere 13 errors. Federer, meanwhile, awaits either Nicolas Almagro or Mikhail Youzhny on Monday for a spot in the quarterfinals.

I like Nalby more than my fave pair of shoes, but it was odd some people thought this would be a close one. This isn't 2003. It isn't even 2005. Federer is really playing well...could be very interesting next weekend.
