Feliciano Lopez def. (8) Andy Roddick 7-6(2), 7-6(2), 6-4
Feliciano Lopez recorded his first victory against 8th seed Andy Roddick early Friday. The 29-year-old Spaniard is through to the round of 16, having upset the three-time Wimbledon runner-up in straight sets. Lopez tallied 28 aces and 57 winners en route to a 7-6(2), 7-6(2), 6-4 success in two hours and 18 minutes.
"It's definitely great win for me," Lopez said after his match. "I beat a couple of great players at Wimbledon in the last 10 years. But to beat Andy in this court is very special."
"I got beat. He served about as well as someone has... I thought his second serve was great today," said Roddick. "He mixed up his serve. There weren't a whole lot of patterns. So he played an outstanding match.”
Lopez will take on either 9th seed Gael Monfils or Lukasz Kubot for a spot in the quarterfinal.
(17) Richard Gasquet def. Simone Bolelli 6-3, 6-4, 6-2
Seventeenth seed Richard Gasquet advanced to the final 16, after defeating Simone Bolelli in straight sets. The 25-year-old Frenchman converted five of 9 break chances, through to a 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 win in 105 minutes of play. He completed his effort with 35 winners and 12 aces.
Gasquet is slated to play fourth seed Andy Murray or veteran Ivan Ljubicic in the round of 16.

Roddick v Lopez match
I'm finding that Roddick's best days are behind him as he is more of a 20-something ranked player these days. Yes, Lopez played well but it was clear that Roddick's return of serve and baseline game was inferior to Lopez's. A-Rod needs to change his game and his coach.
