World No. 2 Novak Djokovic made a successful start to Wimbledon, having ousted Jeremy Chardy in straight sets. The Serbian passed through the match untroubled, 6-4, 6-1, 6-1.
Second seed Novak Djokovic needed just an hour and 20 minutes to record an opening-round win against Jeremy Chardy on Tuesday. The 24-year-old held 100% of his service games, en route to a routine victory, 6-4, 6-1, 6-1.
Djokovic earned a key break at 4-4 in the first set, then closed at 5-4 with an ace. He followed with three service breaks in set two and two conversions in the third. The World No. 2 completed his effort with 9 aces and 25 winners.
He will take on either Kevin Anderson or Illya Marchenko in the second round.
