Three-time finalist Andy Roddick was unable to begin his opener, as inclement weather forced the cancellation of the match. Fellow seed Marin Cilic had his match against Ivan Ljubicic suspended at 1-2 in the third set.
Unruly weather made for a difficult opening day at Wimbledon, as a host of matches were either cancelled or suspended. Former finalist Andy Roddick was scheduled to begin his campaign against Andreas Beck, but continuing rain forced officials to cancel the match.
Elsewhere, twenty-seventh seed Marin Cilic and compatriot Ivan Ljubicic had split the first two sets of their opener, when play was suspended at 1-2 in the third.
