Fourth seed Andy Murray overcame a sluggish start in the opening round, before taking the match in four sets, 4-6, 6-3, 6-0, 6-0. The 24-year-old dropped the first set, then turned the match around at 4-3 in the second.
After leveling the match on an ace at 5-3 in set two, Murray won the next 12 games to seal the victory in two hours and 8 minutes. The Scot completed his effort with 13 aces and 45 winners.
