Kei Nishikori and Janko Tipsarevic will battle for a spot in the AEGON International finals as the tournaments hopes rains will hold off for the completion of play.
Kei Nishikori vs. Janko Tipsarevic
Serbia’s Janko Tipsarevic has a couple of advantages going into his semifinal match against Kei Nishikori. Both men played a pair of matches on Thursday, as rain postponed second round action on Wednesday, but Nishikori had a more difficult time, dropping a set to Germany’s Rainer Schuettler before advancing in 3.
Tipsarevic also holds a 3-0 head-to-head record over Nishikori, all three matches taking place this year, with two coming on hard and the most recent on the clay courts of Belgrade.
Prediction – Tipsarevic for the win in 3.
Igor Kunitsyn vs. Andreas Seppi
Unlikely semifinalists Igor Kunitsyn and Andreas Seppi will vie for an opportunity to compete in Saturday’s final. Russia’s Kunitsyn is ranked 71 in the world. He had a win in the first round of Queen’s Club over Alex Bogomolov, Jr. Andreas Seppi of Italy likewise had a first round win in Halle over Tommy Haas. Seppi is ranked 51 in the world.
Kunitsyn appears to be in the better form of the two men. The Russian in straight sets.
