Jo-Wilfried Tsonga's Wimbledon preparation comes to an end at the hands of Radek Stepanek on Wednesday in Eastbourne. Stepanek advances in straight sets and is through to the quarterfinals.
Radek Stepanek upset Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 6-2, 6-3 in the second round of the AEGON International on Wednesday afternoon. Stepanek held all eight of his service games and faced no break points en route to a quarterfinal clash against either Kei Nishikori or Rainer Schuettler.
Tsonga had just finished runner-up to Andy Murray at Queen's Club on Monday before taking out Denis Istomin in his Eastbourne opener on Tuesday. All of the tennis and Wimbledon preparation finally caught up with the 19th-ranked Frenchman, who looked jaded right from the start. Stepanek earned two breaks in the first set and served it out at 5-2 for an early advantage.
The veteran Czech continued to cruise in the third, dropping a mere six points in four service games. Two breaks were once again more than enough for Stepanek, whose fourth break of the day finished off the proceedings in style at 5-3.
"I've played a lot of matches," said Tsonga, who recorded four aces without double-faulting but won a shockingly bad 54 percent of his first-serve points. "That was my goal for this preparation. Today I'm just tired, but I'm sure I will recover enough to play Wimbledon and to be ready."

Dunno why tTonga elected to play again this week. He'll be all tired and out of sorts for Wimbledon. Not very smart scheduling on his part at all.

This is the whimsical nature of sport, how many aces did he fire against Nadal? (some even on his 2nd serve!). If Tsonga played every match like he does against Rafa he'd be at least in the top 5..
I know this doesn't mean much but Rafa dismissed Step in straight sets in Queens...
