    UNICEF Open- Baghdatis, Malisse make quarterfinal Tournament seeds Marcos Baghdatis and Xavier Malisse advanced to the final eight at s-Hertogenbosch, after taking out respective opponents Robin Haase and wildcard Jesse Huta Galung.

    (2/WC) Marcos Baghdatis def. Robin Haase 7-5, 6-4

    Second seed Marcos Baghdatis reached the last eight late Wednesday, having upended Robin Haase in straight sets. The 25-year-old Cypriot trailed 4-5 in the opening set, but came back to win three consecutive games. He continued his effort to break to 2-1 in the second, eventually closing the match in 80 minutes.

    Baghdatis will face Denis Gremelmayr in the quarterfinal. The German upset fifth seed Jarkko Nieminen in the second round, 7-6(3), 2-6, 7-6(5).

    (3) Xavier Malisse def. (WC) Jesse Huta Galung 7-6(2), 6-4

    Third seed Xavier Malisse is through to the quarterfinal, following his straight-set ousting of wildcard Jesse Huta Galung. The 30-year-old Belgian saved seven of 8 break points, en route to a second-round victory in 97 minutes. By virtue of Wednesday’s success, Malisse advanced to his second quarterfinal of the season.

    He is scheduled to take on Alex Bogomolov Jr for a place in the semifinal. The American defeated Filippo Volandri in the round of 16, 7-6(2), 6-2.
