    UNICEF Open - Malisse, Nieminen through to round two Tournament seeds Xavier Malisse and Jarkko Nieminen are through to the round of 16, after putting together straight-set victories against qualifier Alejandro Falla and Maximo Gonzalez on Tuesday.

    (3) Xavier Malisse def. (Q) Alejandro Falla 6-3, 6-1

    Third seed Xavier Malisse made a successful start to the tournament, having downed qualifier Alejandro Falla in just 56 minutes. The 30-year-old Belgian converted five of 11 break points, through to a 6-3, 6-1 victory Tuesday afternoon. Falla had difficulty with his second serve, unable to capture more than 36% of the points.

    Malisse will face wildcard Jesse Huta Galung in the next round. The Dutchman held on to oust Julian Reister in the first round, 6-2, 3-6, 7-5.

    (5) Jarkko Nieminen def. Maximo Gonzalez 7-5, 6-1

    Fifth seed Jarkko Nieminen advanced to the round of 16, following his straight-set success against Maximo Gonzalez. The veteran collected five service breaks, en route to a 7-5, 6-1 win in one hour and 10 minutes. The Argentine struggled to win points during the match, having captured just 48% of his first-service and 36% of his second-service points.

    Nieminen is slated to take on Denis Gremelmayr for a place in the quarterfinal. The German defeated qualifier Ludovic Walter in the opening round, 6-3, 7-6(3).
