    UNICEF Open - Dodig advances, Gimeno-Traver falls Tournament seed Ivan Dodig advanced to the second round, following his straight set victory over veteran Victor Hanescu. Fellow seed Daniel Gimeno-Traver lost his opener to wildcard Javier Marti early Sunday.

    Fourth seed Ivan Dodig made a successful debut at the tournament, having ousted Romanian veteran Victor Hanescu in straight sets. The 26-year-old Croatian tallied 10 aces and saved seven of 7 break points, en route to a 6-4, 7-5 victory in 98 minutes. By virtue of the opening-round success, Dodig improved his season record to 16-10.

    He is slated to face Andreas Haider-Maurer for a place in the quarterfinal. The Austrian defeated Blaz Kavcic in the opening round, 6-4, 6-7(3), 6-4.

    (WC) Javier Marti def. (8) Daniel Gimeno-Traver 6-3, 7-6(4)

    Wildcard Javier Marti won his first ATP World Tour match early Sunday, following his 6-3, 7-6(4) upset of fellow Spaniard Daniel Gimeno-Traver. The 19-year-old, competing in his UNICEF Open debut, entered into the tournament without a Tour-level victory. Gimeno-Traver dropped to 5-17, having suffered his 11th opening-round loss this year.

    Marti will take on either Teymuraz Gabashvili or qualifier Konstantin Kravchuk in the next round.
