    Halle - Monfils moves on, Dolgopolov falls to Kohlschreiber Gael Monfils is through to the quarterfinal at the Gerry Weber Open, following his victory over Ivan Dodig. The Frenchman is joined among the final eight by Philipp Kohlschreiber, who defeated Alexandr Dolgopolov.

    Third seed Gael Monfils is safely through to the last eight, after downing Ivan Dodig in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3. The 24-year-old Frenchman needed just 51 minutes to complete his effort, having improved his season record to 15-5. Monfils converted 100% of his break point opportunities during the round of 16 match.

    He will take on sixth seed Florian Mayer for a place in the semifinal. The German took out Yen-Hsun Lu in the second round, 7-6(4), 3-6, 6-4.

    Philipp Kohlschreiber def. (7) Alexandr Dolgopolov 6-3, 7-6(5)

    Former finalist Philipp Kohlschreiber reached the quarterfinal by virtue of his straight-set success against 7th seed Alexandr Dolgopolov. The 27-year-old German held 11 consecutive service games, through to a 6-3, 7-6(5) victory in an hour and 17 minutes. Kohlschreiber, who did not face a break point during the match, ended the day with 30 of 35 first-service points captured.

    He is slated to meet defending champion Lleyton Hewitt in the quarterfinal. The veteran Australian defeated Andreas Seppi in the round of 16, 6-4, 6-4.
