Unsung British No. 2 James Ward, who stunned Swiss Stanislas Wawrinka on grass at Queen's club, credits his success to a new three-week fitness regime supervised by a hard-man cage fighter.
The No. 216 stands well back of compatriot Andy Murray, who ranks fourth in the world. Ward is reveling in the biggest win of his career but admits that he's more than a bit intimidated by his new Argentine trainer.
"He was walking around tournaments with all his fighting gear on, so I had to give him a lot of Fila stuff to make him try and blend in a little bit," said the reserved Brit. "He looked like a bodyguard - and I don't need one of them just yet."
But Ward praises the work ethic - and sheer grind - that hes been through recently courtesy of the professional brawler. "He's taught me a lot and given me a lot of discipline. But he's a little bit (scary). He keeps getting me in headlocks, which is not nice. There's not too much back-chat."
