Andy Roddick def. Feliciano Lopez 7-6(2), 6-7(5), 6-4
The match between American Andy Roddick and Feliciano Lopez was a tight encounter with both men serving big to force a pair of tiebreakers. The American made it through the first set without facing a single break point. Roddick only smacked 8 aces to Lopez’s 15, but neither man was able to secure the break. Roddick was dominant in the breaker to take the lead.
The American’s game started to show holes in the second set. Lopez continued to pound away with his big first serve, eventually winning out in the second tiebreak of the match.
Lopez secured the first break of the match on a weak service game from Roddick, but the Spaniard suddenly tightened up and gave not only that break but another back to Roddick.
The win sends Roddick into round of 16 where he awaits the winner of Donald Young and Kevin Anderson.
