Brazil’s Thomaz Bellucci will get a start to the 2011 grass court season against up-and-coming Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov.
Tomaz Bellucci will take to the court on Monday afternoon as the ATP tour puts the red clay of mainland Europe behind them for a brief stint on the green grass of the Great Britain.
Bellucci is actually more comfortable on the clay. The Brazilian doesn’t have the sort of serve or net game that translates well to the quick conditions. Bellucci prefers to play baseline tennis with an emphasis on defense.
Queen’s Club has traditionally played even faster than Wimbledon; the conditions could well suit the big-hitting game of Grigor Dimitrov.
The Bulgarian is still waiting for his big break-through. The 20-year old has a big game, but he lacks the kind of consistency that allows him to win on a regular basis on the main tour.
If Dimitrov has a good serving day, he could well post the first upset of the tournament.
