    Nice - Berdych advances, Ferrer falls to Dolgopolov Second seed Tomas Berdych is through to the final four in Nice, following his straight-set victory against wildcard Ernests Gulbis late Thursday. The Czech is joined by Alexandr Dolgopolov, who upset top seed David Ferrer in three sets.

    World No. 6 Tomas Berdych advanced to the semifinal by virtue of his straight-set success over Ernests Gulbis late Thursday. The 25-year-old Czech converted four of 14 break points, through to a 6-1, 6-4 victory in an hour and 24 minutes. Gulbis struggled with his second serve, unable to win more than 27% of the points.

    Berdych is slated to face third seed Nicolas Almagro for a place in the final. The Spaniard defeated compatriot Pablo Andujar in the quarterfinal, 6-1, 6-4.

    (5) Alexandr Dolgopolov def. (1) David Ferrer 6-4, 1-6, 7-5

    Fifth seed Alexandr Dolgopolov reached his first semifinal since Acapulco, having ousted top seed David Ferrer in three sets. The 22-year-old Ukranian recorded his first win over the Spaniard, with a key break of serve in the deciding set. Dolgopolov completed the one-hour, 52-minute match with 6 aces and four of 9 break points converted.

    He will take on Victor Hanescu in the semifinal. The Romanian veteran passed into the final four, after opponent Robin Haase retired with a right ankle injury.

Gulbis put up another typical sulky show. Loved it when he broke his racquet and the ever elegant Mr Berdych just smiled rather sweetly!
But Dolgopolov beating Ferrer that's REAL news and so close to RG too. However David has been ill and made loads of untypical UEs.
