    Berdych, Almagro reach Nice quarterfinal Tournament seeds Tomas Berdych and Nicolas Almagro are through to the quarterfinal, after recording second-round wins against respective opponents Adrian Mannarino and Carlos Berlocq.

    (2) Tomas Berdych def. Adrian Mannarino 6-1, 6-4

    World No. 6 Tomas Berdych is through to the final eight, having ousted hometown hope Adrian Mannarino in straight sets. The 25-year-old Czech held nine of 9 service games, en route to a 6-1, 6-4 win in just 64 minutes. Berdych served well, holding his opponent to 11 points on the return.

    He is slated to face wildcard Ernests Gulbis in the quarterfinal. The Latvian held on to defeat Denis Istomin in the round of 16, 6-3, 4-6, 6-3.

    (3) Nicolas Almagro def. Carlos Berlocq 6-7(5), 6-4, 6-3

    Third seed Nicolas Almagro survived an extended match with Carlos Berlocq on Wednesday, as he rallied through to a three-set victory in two hours and 23 minutes. The Spaniard converted five of 8 break point chances, through to a 6-7(5), 6-4, 6-3 win. Almagro tallied 5 aces and 6 double faults during the match.

    He will take on compatriot Pablo Andujar in the next round. Andujar took out wildcard Julien Benneteau in the round of 16, 6-3, 6-4.
