Nadal advances to Rome final World No. 1 Rafael Nadal is through to his sixth final of the season, following a straight-set victory over 16th seed Richard Gasquet on Saturday. The top seed will face either Novak Djokovic or Andy Murray for the Rome title.

World No. 1 Rafael Nadal improved to 9-0 lifetime against World No. 16 Richard Gasquet, having ousted the Frenchman in straight sets, 7-5, 6-1. The Mallorcan saved four of 4 break points, on his way to a semifinal success in 94 minutes.

Nadal continued his effort to lead 2-0 in the second set. An insurance break came to 4-1 for Nadal, after Gasquet missed a forehand long. The defending champion earned double match point at 5-1, then completed the match with a well-timed backhand.

“I am playing better every day and a little bit higher, so I think that in general I am happy for everything," Nadal said, after the victory. "(I am in) another final, six in a row, and it is unbelievable; I had a tough week and so I am very happy for everything.”

Nadal ended the afternoon with 4 aces, 26 winners and four of 5 break point chances converted.

He awaits either World No. 2 Novak Djokovic or World No. 4 Andy Murray in the final.
