    Troicki downs Davydenko, Andreev advances Tournament seed Viktor Troicki advanced to the second round in Rome, after taking out former World No. 3 Nikolay Davydenko. Igor Andreev is also through, following his victory over fellow qualifier Pere Riba.

    (15) Viktor Troicki def. Nikolay Davydenko 6-4, 7-5

    Fifteenth seed Viktor Troicki made a successful start in Rome, having upended Nikolay Davydenko in straight sets late Monday. The 25-year-old earned a service break at 2-2 in the opening set, then followed with a critical break at 5-5 in the second. He completed the one-hour, 40-minute match with six aces and four of 4 break points saved.

    Troicki is scheduled to take on Potito Starace in the next round. The veteran defeated Alexandr Dolgopolov in the first round, 6-3, 6-3.


    (Q) Igor Andreev def. (Q) Pere Riba 6-4, 7-5

    Igor Andreev avenged his recent loss to Pere Riba, having ousted the Spaniard in straight sets, 6-4, 7-5. The 27-year-old Russian converted five of 11 break points through 99 minutes of play. By virtue of his first-round victory, Andreev improved his season record to 8-12.

    He is slated to meet 16th seed Richard Gasquet in the second round. The Frenchman defeated Albert Montanes in the opening round, 6-2, 6-3.
