    Gasquet, Monaco advance in Rome Richard Gasquet is through to the second round at the Masters 1000 Rome after taking out Albert Montanes in straight sets. Juan Monaco also advanced, following his hard-fought victory over Andreas Seppi.

    Sixteenth seed Richard Gasquet earned his fifth win over Albert Montanes on Sunday, having taken down the Spaniard in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3. The 24-year-old Frenchman tallied 7 aces and four breaks of serve through an hour and 12 minutes. By virtue of the opening-round success, Gasquet improved his second record to 17-9.

    Juan Monaco def. Andreas Seppi 6-1, 4-6, 6-2

    World No. 37 Juan Monaco came through the first round on Sunday, after holding off Andreas Seppi in three sets. The 27-year-old Argentine secured five of 11 break point chances, en route to a 6-1, 4-6, 6-2 victory in two hours and 14 minutes. Monaco completed the effort with 34 of 40 first-service points captured.

    He is slated to meet 7th seed Tomas Berdych in the second round.
