Juan Martin Del Potro was fortunate to fit his match in before rain halted play for the day. The Argentine took out tournament No. 1 seed Robin Soderling.
Despite coming through much of the second set at a deficit, Juan Martin Del Potro was able to win his rain-delayed quarterfinal against Sweden’s Robin Soderling.
It was not Soderling’s foot that seemed to bother him in this match, but rather an inability to stay with Del Potro mentally.
The Argentine was the noticeably better player on the big points throughout the match. Del Potro was able to stave off 4 break points in the opening frame, while Soderling went 1 for 2.
Soderling seemed to find his footing in the second set. He went up an early break and actually held a 4-1 lead in the second set when the rains came. When play resumed, the Swede’s serve completely deserted him; at 2-5 down, Del Potro reeled off 5 straight games to win in straight sets.
Del Potro will take on Pablo Cuevas, who also got his match in before the rain fell.

Watch out for Delpo. He get Nadal in the 3rd round or Madird. I smell a surprise there.

No surprise there. Rafa can handle anyone on clay as long as his knees are not hurting. Rafa not being playing well at IW still was able to beat Delpo there. Remember, hard court is Delpo's favorite surface but not Rafa's. The way Rafa handled Giraldo, Dodig who were both big flat hitters; Monfils who moved well on the clay court; Murray who played like Nole on clay with his backhand CC and DTL shots and in addition threw in some very good net plays; and last but not least, Ferrer who was/is a seasoned good clay courter, I don't see Delpo beating him. As long as Rafa comes out all guns blazing, he should be fine.

Rafa is strong enough and accurate enough to put the ball wide to Delpotro's forehand then whack the ball behind him. JMDP has a huge wing span but can't run back on himself. He is quite slow.
Lucky am watching Raoinic for the first time. What do you think of him? Hungry isn't he?

Oops, just as I was watching Milos lost the first set and retired. Didn't look injured. Baffling????

Using his big serve, he can beat many players who aren't that great on the clay courts, but once he meets a good clay court player, he'll be defeated. I saw him playing against Ferrer in Monte Carlo, Ferrer despatched him handily. It's not that easy to master the clay court game, movement is one of the factor, another is understanding how to play the game, patient with the
rallies and points constructions, understanding the full dimension of the court, and how to trap
your opponents with your game and move in for the kill. It's definitely not the big serve big forehand three shots win a point kind of game, unless the clay court happens to play like a hard court!
I think Raonic is learning fast on the clay court, I feel he needs to be more patient and pulls the trigger at the right time. Let's see how he handles Verdasco. If he beats Verdasco, than Delpo will be an interesting test for him.

Vamos Polito! Keep going! Don't stop!
Best of luck against Cuevas - I didn't think he would upset Bellucci, so watch him! Don't let him get you! :-)
