Feliciano Lopez and Fabio Fognini are through to the second round at the Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters after recording wins over respective opponent Janko Tipsarevic and Kevin Anderson.

Feliciano Lopez made the second round after rallying to oust Janko Tipsarevic in three sets, 4-6, 6-3, 7-6(4). The 29-year-old tallied 18 aces and two service breaks through two hours and 25 minutes of play. The World No. 43, who had trailed Tipsarevic 0-1 in clay-court matches before Tuesday, captured 49 of 60 first-service points on the day.
He will face fourth-seeded compatriot David Ferrer for a place in the round of 16.
Fabio Fognini def. Kevin Anderson 3-6, 6-2, 6-2
World No. 53 Fabio Fognini survived a tough match with Kevin Anderson to reach the second round. the 23-year-old Italian dug out of a set deficit to record a three-set win, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2. Fognini converted six of 11 break point opportunities through an hour and 54 minutes. Anderson endured a difficult day on serve, unable to win more than 38% of his second-service points.
Fognini is slated to meet 11th seed Viktor Troicki in the opening round. The Serbian won his opener over wildcard Jean-Rene Lisnard in straight sets.
