Fellow seeds Pablo Cuevas and Grigor Dimitrov are through to the second round at the US Men’s Clay Court Championship, after recording routine straight-set victories over Ricardo Mello and Rainer Schuettler.
(7) Pablo Cuevas def. Ricardo Mello 6-2, 6-0
Seventh seed Pablo Cuevas earned his first Tour-level win over Ricardo Mello on Monday, having downed the veteran Brazilian in under and hour. The 25-year-old held his opponent to just 6 return points, after opening a 5-1 edge in the opening set. Cuevas closed the match with five of 9 break point chances converted and 16 of 17 first-serve points captured.
He is next to face either wildcard James Blake or Carlos Berlocq for a place in the quarterfinal.
(8) Grigor Dimitrov def. Rainer Schuettler 6-0, 6-2
Eighth seed Grigor Dimitrov made a strong debut in Houston, with a straight-set rout of veteran Rainer Schuettler. The 19-year-old won seven consecutive games to lead 6-0, 1-0. After trailing 1-2 in the second set, Dimitrov secured five straight games to complete the match in 64 minutes. The Bulgarian completed the day with six of 13 break opportunities converted.
He will take on either Teymuraz Gabashvili or qualifier Paul Capdeville in the round of 16.

i saw him in Miami against Stakhouse and liked what I saw, at least in terms of strokes (identical to Federer) and movement
still ages away from putting it all together.
And Schuettler annihilated Harrison.....

like everyone else i only assumed Schuettler would win, but obviously Dimitrov had good chance going in.
