Rafael Nadal finished runner-up last weekend in Indian Wells, but he immediately gets another chance to add to his career title count. Nadal is in a section of the Miami draw that also includes Tomas Berdych and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.
Rafael Nadal will be looking for his first career Miami Masters shield when he takes the court this week at the Sony Ericsson Open. The world No. 1 is coming off a runner-up finish in Indian Wells, where he fell to an on-fire Novak Djokovic.
Nadal should have a great chance of also making it to the final weekend in South Beach. He is part of a relatively unimposing section of the draw in which other contenders include Tomas Berdych, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, and Alexandr Dolgopolov.
Tsonga and Dolgopolov, who have played two five-setters against each other in the last nine months are on course for a third-round collision. A 2010 Wimbledon encounter saw Tsonga prevail, but Dolgopolov got revenge en route to the quarterfinals of this year's Australian Open. The winner of their potential Miami showdown will likely meet Nadal in round four.
Nadal will open on Saturday night against either Jeremy Chardy or Kei Nishikori. The top-seeded Spaniard's potential third-round opponents are Juan Ignacio Chela, Richard Berankis, and Feliciano Lopez.
Big-serving Croat Ivo Karlovic, who took Nadal to a third-set tiebreaker in the Indian Wells quarterfinals, could get another shot at the top seed. Karlovic got a late wild card into this event when Milos Raonic gained direct entry and thus did not have to use his wild card. Karlovic begins on Thursday against Florian Mayer before a possible matchup with Albert Montanes.

In Miami, Rafa will be introduced as the face of Bacardi's "Champions Drink Responsibly" campaign. Nadal urges consumers to enjoy drinking in moderation and to tell their friends where the line is. :)
<<Bacardi chooses Nadal as ambassador.
The Miami Herald has learned that the Number 1 ranked tennis player in the world and winner of nine Grand Slam titles will be introduced late Tuesday as the face of Bacardi's "Champions Drink Responsibly" campaign during an event at the New World Symphony space on Miami Beach.
In one of the first ads, Nadal emphasizes the importance of knowing when you and your friends have had enough to drink. The ad shows Nadal holding his tennis racquet over an empty spirits glass with the message, "I'd always tell my friends where the line is."
"I enjoy socializing with my friends and family and drinking responsibly is important no matter what your game is," Nadal said in a statement. "That is why I'm teaming up with Bacardi Limited as I want to take the lead in promoting social responsibility to fans and consumers around the world." /---/
In another ad, Nadal urges consumers to enjoy drinking in moderation, emphasizing that quality is what's important, not quantity. Nadal is shown holding his hands up in a "Time Out" sign next to an almost finished drink. The ad features the message, "I try to beat everyone at tennis, not at drinking."

I am hoping that Rafa will sort out his serving problems with the help of Uncle Toni and be able to go out and win his first title in Miami! Good luck, Rafa!
Augustina,
I think that's wonderful for Rafa! It's a very worthwhile and important message that needs to be sent to young people. I am so happy that he will be a part of this campaign.
Thanks again for keeping us informed!

Yes, as long as there's no injuries and that first serve is sorted - (just above 20% ..indeed) then he should have no problems reaching the final.
I for one want him to rematch up with Djokovic in the final, he would be so determined to make amends for the collapse in the 2nd and 3rd set of Inidan Wells
