    Montanes advances, Simon falls to Karlovic Albert Montanes made the fourth round at the BNP Paribas Open after rallying to upend fellow Spaniard Nicolas Almagro. Ivo Karlovic also advanced, having taken out 28th seed Gilles Simon in straight sets.

    World No. 26 Albert Montanes is through to the fourth round, following his come-from-behind victory over compatriot Nicolas Almagro in three sets. After splitting the first two sets, Montanes earned a key service break at 2-2 in the deciding set. The 30-year-old ended his effort having captured three breaks of serve through one hour and 52 minutes.

    Montanes will face Ivo Karlovic in the round of 16.

    World No. 239 Ivo Karlovic advanced to the round of 16, after scoring a routine win against 28th seed Gilles Simon Monday evening. The 32-year-old tallied 11 aces en route to a 6-3, 6-3 victory in 63 minutes. Karlovic held the advantage throughout the match, having broken serve at 1-1 in the first set and 2-1 in the second.

    The Croatian completed the effort with 30 of 32 first-service points won.
