    Monaco moves Argentina 2-0 ahead of Romania Juan Monaco moved host nation Argentina to 2-0 ahead of Romania, having downed Victor Hanescu in four sets. Veteran David Nalbandian earned the first point, by virtue of his four-set win over Adrian Ungur.

    World No. 33 Juan Monaco helped Argentina build a 2-0 edge against Romania, following his four-set victory over Victor Hanescu on Friday. The 26-year-old overcame a dip in form during the second set, regrouping to lead 4–0 in the third and 3-0 in the fourth.

    Monaco completed his two-hour and 50-minute effort with 50 winners and five of 6 break point opportunities converted.

    David Nalbandian def. Adrian Ungur 6-3, 6-2, 5-7, 6-4

    World No.19 David Nalbandian recorded his 21st Davis Cup win in singles, after holding on to take out Adrian Ungur in four sets. The 29-year-old survived a second-set lull, having snagged the only service break in the fourth set.

    Nalbandian ended the three-hour and 4-minute match with 49 winners and ten of 11 break points saved.
