Former champion Mardy Fish made the final eight in Delray Beach, by virtue of his straight-set victory over Ricardo Mello. Juan Martin Del Potro also advanced, after crushing round of 16 opponent Teymuraz Gabashvili, 6-1, 6-1.

World No. 16 Mardy Fish made his fifth quarterfinal in Delray Beach, following his 6-2, 6-1 win against Ricardo Mello in the round of 16. The 29-year-old American tallied 8 aces and five service breaks through 55 minutes of play. Fish, who captured the title in 2009, held seven consecutive service games without facing a break point.
He will face Alejandro Falla for a place in the semifinal. The Colombian qualifier upset 8th Adrian Mannarino in the round of 16, 6-3, 6-2.

Wildcard Juan Martin Del Potro reached his third consecutive quarterfinal, after crushing Teymuraz Gabashvili Thursday evening, 6-1, 6-1. The Argentine led 4-0 in the opening set, then 3-1 in the second set. Del Potro did not face a break point through 70 minutes of competition. He completed the match 92% of his first-service points won and five of 8 break chances converted.
The former World No. 4 awaits either fifth seed Kevin Anderson or veteran Florent Serra in the quarterfinal.
