Memphis winner Andy Roddick will make a quick return to action, as he heads to the Delray Beach International Tennis Championships. The 28-year-old American, set to make his first appearance in eight years is the top seed at the tournament.
Former Delray Beach finalist Andy Roddick is 12-2 for the 2011 season, aided by his third championship effort in Memphis (def. Raonic). The top-ranked American, who captured his 30th career title on Sunday, is set to take part in his fifth Delray Beach event.
Roddick is located in the same half of the draw as (3) Sam Querrey, (6) Janko Tipsarevic and (7) Benjamin Becker. The 2002 Delray Beach runner-up is scheduled to open his bid against Dudi Sela of Israel mid-week. Passage through the opening round will set a match with either Ivan Dodig or Julien Benneteau. The closest seed to Roddick is compatriot Querrey, who looms as a possible quarterfinal-round challenger.
Additional competitors in Roddick section include: 2008 runner-up James Blake, 2008 champion Kei Nishikori, and 2010 finalist Ivo Karlovic.
Topping the bottom half of the draw is second seed Mardy Fish. The American, who secured the Delray Beach title in 2009, has been placed in a tricky part of the field that includes: (4) John Isner, (5) Kevin Anderson and (8) Adrian Mannarino. Other players in the same section are former World No. 4 Juan Martin Del Potro, Richard Berankis and Radek Stepanek.
The 29-year-old is slated to square off against veteran Bjorn Phau in the opening round.
Ernests Gulbis elected not to defend his 2010 title, opting to compete in the Duty Free Tennis Championships in Dubai.

never in doubt
good decision

He made the absolutely best decision as he must be feeling pretty crummy today after the bruises on his body from all of the diving he did last week, not to mention the health problems he's dealing with at the presen time.
Rest up Andy. Hopefully, this rest period will help him with his IW and Miami finalist and winner's points defense.
