2/9/11 3:10 AM | Cheryl Murray
Sweden’s Robin Soderling had a routine day at the office with a straight-set victory over the Netherland’s Robin Haase.
Robin Soderling required just 53 minutes to dismiss hometown Dutchman Robin Haase. Haase's serve actually held up fairly well; he smacked 11 aces in the short 2-set match and served at 65%. Unfortunately for Haase, his groundstrokes and particularly his return game let him down.
Soderling did not face a single break point in the match, and he won all but 6 points on his own serve. Haase was not nearly as efficient. He faced down 10 break points, and managed to save all but 3 thanks largely to his first serve.
The second set was particular brutal for the Dutchman. He quickly found himself in a 1-4 hole and only managed one more game before Soderling closed out the match.
The Swede will face Germany’s Philipp Kohlschreiber in the second round.
