    2/6/11 12:09 AM | Kelli DeMario
Robredo, Giraldo rally to reach Santiago final Tommy Robredo is through to the Movistar Open championship match, after digging out of a set deficit to beat Fabio Fognini. The Spaniard will face Santiago Giraldo, who regrouped to oust Potito Starace in three sets.

    (6) Tommy Robredo def. (7) Fabio Fognini 4-6, 6-2, 6-3

Sixth seed Tommy Robredo booked his 17th career final on Saturday, following his come-from-behind win over seventh seed Fabio Fognini. Both players struggled on serve, having tallied 15 double faults through two hours and 8 minutes of play. Fognini had problems with his second serve, unable to capture more than 24% of the points.

After splitting the first two sets, Robredo lead 4-0 in the third. Fognini bridged the gap to 2-4, but could not recover the second service break. The 28-year-old Spaniard completed the evening with six of 15 break chances converted.

    (8) Santiago Giraldo def. (5) Potito Starace 4-6, 7-6(2), 6-1

Eighth seed Santiago Giraldo reached his first ATP World Tour final, having rallied to upend fifth seed Potito Starace in three sets. After winning the second set tie-break, the 23-year-old built a 4-0 advantage in the decider. A third service break came at 5-1 for Giraldo, who closed the match at the two-hour, 5-minute mark.

So Kelli, what actually happened between Tommy and Fabio to make things so tense at the end?

EPIC ending to this one. Hilarious.

and ATP rigged the Costa Do Sauipe draw so that Rob and Fogs are playing each other R1 next week.... Even more hilarious!

Supposedly Fog was pissed that Robredo was cheering his ufe's. Fog said something (in Italian?) about him...calling him a pos or something. Robredo objected and refused to shake his hand. Twice.

Not sure who is the more at fault here. If you ask those who know, both aren't particularly well liked.

Pity for Giraldo today, he had the title on his racquet at 5-3. Nerves are a killer.

Fognini instigated it, obviously. And called Robredo names that can't be reprinted here.

YouTube video is highly suggested.

Unless you catch someone cheering a double fault, which I've actually never seen, I usually feel that, rather than cheering an ufe, a player is more likely to be cheering his own shot that caused the ufe.
Commenting generally, not on this match which I didn't see.
