With the field wide open, Kevin Anderson and Frank Dancevic are taking advantage at the SA Tennis Open.
Johannesburg featured a bevy of seed exits. Every one of the top seeds except No. 4 Kevin Anderson lost in the opening round. South Africa's Anderson and Canada's Frank Dancevic are still in the draw to take advantage of the opportunity.
Anderson defeated Dudi Sela of Israel in easy straight sets, firing 13 aces along the way. Anderson broke Dela's serve four times in the match and was broken just once himself.
Should Anderson win his home tournament, it will be the first title for the world No. 59.
Frank Dancevic of Canada joins Anderson in the quarterfinals. The Canadian has been struggling on tour, with his ranking plummeting to No. 234 in the world. He has made good progress this week, however.
Dancevic just edged South African wildcard Fritz Wolmarans in straight sets. Their first set went to a tiebreaker with no service breaks. The second featured 3 breaks of serve with the edge going to Dancevic.
