Rising young star Milos Raonic takes the court on Tuesday against No. 2 seed Yen-Hsun Lu and top seed Feliciano Lopez will be in action against Frank Dancevic.
Milos Raonic vs. Yen-Hsun Lu
Canada’s newest hope Milos Raonic made a name for himself at the Australian Open. The youngster came all the way through qualifying to dispatch of both Michael Llodra and Mikhail Youzhny before going out to eventual semifinalist David Ferrer in the round of 16. His ranking jumped from 152 all the way to 94 thanks to his performance in Melbourne.
He takes on world No. 37 Yen-Hsun Lu, who has beaten Andy Murray and Andy Roddick in his career. It was Lu who dispatched Roddick at Wimbledon in 2010. The man from Taiwan has not won a match in 2011 yet. He has first round exits in Sydney and at the Australian Open. And with his unfortunate draw in Johannesburg, expect another early exit. Raonic in straight sets.
Feliciano Lopez vs. Frank Dancevic
Top seed Feliciano Lopez will take on another Canadian, Frank Dancevic, in his first round match. Dancevic was once the highest ranked Canadian player, but poor form has caused his ranking to dip to 234.
Lopez is ranked 33 in the world. He was knocked out of the Australian Open in the second round by young Australian Bernard Tomic. Lopez also had a second round exit in Brisbane and first round ouster in Sydney at the hands of Juan Martin Del Potro.
Lopez isn’t in the world’s best form, but he should have enough to get out of this match.
