The No. 5 seed Andy Murray put on another impressive display in Melbourne, this time against Guillermo Garcia-Lopez.
Andy Murray def. Guillermo Garcia-Lopez
Scotland's Andy Murray lost just four games en route to the round of 16. The Scot’s latest victim was the No. 32 seed Guillermo Garcia-Lopez of Spain. This may have been Murray's best match yet at the Australian Open. The Scot was nothing short of brilliant off the ground. His retrieving erased would-be winners, and a high first serve percentage (64% for the match) meant that Garcia-Lopez had few chances to break.
Murray will face the in-form Jurgen Melzer in the round of 16.
Jurgen Melzer def. Marcos Baghdatis
Suffering from an injury he sustained to his finger in his second round win over Juan Martin Del Potro, Marcos Baghdatis was forced to retire in the third round. After the first set, which Baghdatis won in a tiebreaker, Melzer was completely dominant.
The Austrian had good length of shot on his groundstrokes which pressured Baghdatis, already suffering from pain in his finger, to go for too much. The Cypriot hit 41 errors to just 25 winners. Seven games into the fourth set, Baghdatis retired.

for me berdych is the 2nd fav. he's very confident, playing great, aggressive and looks really determined, and he's had some tricky opponents. i saw murray walkabout a few times but maybe he's peaking at the right time. in fact rafa not being 100% and federer seeming a bit shaky at times, these guys have a bit of a look in for the title if they can take their chances on the crucial points.

homos, do u take big bird over nole then?
deuce , 1/23/11 8:32 AM
very tough qtr match up. could go either way. ok, i'll stick to my story :) and give a slight edge to berdy because i've watched more of him this week and he's looking consistently very solid and confident this week. and he's had some potentially solid opponents. nole's playing great too but there was some slowness against dodig and always a quenstion mark hangs over his physicality. also unfortunate that troicky retired. who knows. who's your pick for this match, deuce?

qtr *final* match up
*question* mark

Well, Nole's my second favourite player so I'd go with him but living here in UK with time difference (bah) haven't seen either play yet! So, I think u have a more up to the minute take on this :)

homos, you seem to be relishing the fact that Rafa is still suffering from the effects of his flu, you have already written him off, hopefully, you will be proved wrong because Rafa will do his best to overcome it and not listen to doomsayers like you.

where does it indicate that i relish that my utmost fav player might be ill? in every slam i always hope for rafa to win. it is just that unlike wishful thinking fanatics like you who live in complete denial, i can accept reality as i see it. if he's not 100% or other shavea chance, i acknowlege it.
get over yourself!!!

by the way, i am at the open right now and watching from court side. i follow a lot of players like i always have. i don't just obsses myself with one fav player and think he's the be all and end all of the sport.

Wow homos, big, big envy here :) Did not realise u were Australian though, thought with name plus fave., u were Spanish :) Think deama got wrong end of stick, u clearly wrote "second fave."

Murray is playing AWESOME.
To me is the second favourite to win this GS after Nadal.
