Afer losing the Australian open final a year ago to Roger Federer and shedding a few quiet tears on the podium, Andy Murray is hoping for a change of luck at this edition.
But Murray has been keeping the pressure away prior to his opening match with Slovak Karol Beck by playing an impromptu football match with Novak Djokovic and participating in the Rally for Relief in aid of Queensland flood victims.
Murray's form dropped badly in February after his Melbourne heartbreak. "I went through some tough patches after the Aussie Open," said the Scot, who added: "I have very good memories from here. I have some bad ones, as well. I've had a couple of very tough losses here in the past.
"That was something I had to come back from and I learned from, so I think mentally I'm in a better place." Murray currently stands fifth in the seedings - the same place he was in 2010 when he made his finals run.
While he's not bad at actual football - or tennis football which he and his team use constantly to spice up training sessions - Murray has revealed his true passion is fantasy football. "I’m addicted to it," he told London's Daily Mail. "I can’t stop tinkering with my team. I play in a league with a few other tennis players and a few mates. Last year I dominated the league from Christmas onwards and won it.
"But this year hasn’t been all plain sailing. I’m mid-table but in touch with the chasing pack. It’s all about where you are at the end of the season though."
