Berdych still rolling, Gasquet upset in Chennai Tomas Berdych eases past Ivan Dodig in the Chennai second round on Wednesday. Berdych is joined in the quarterfinals by Bjorn Phau, who took out Richard Gasquet in a thriller.

    Bjorn Phau d. (4) Richard Gasquet 1-6, 7-6(5), 7-6(4)

Phau staged an improbable comeback and benefited from an epic Gasquet meltdown to pull off an upset in the second round of the Aircel Chennai Open on Wednesday. Gasquet dominated the first set 6-1 and seized two breaks for a 5-2 lead in the second. That, however, is when it all fell apart for the 30th-ranked Frenchman. He failed to serve out the match at both 5-2 and 5-4 and from there he could not recover.

Shockingly, the second set progressed to a tiebreaker and Phau took it seven points to five. In the final frame of play it was the 102nd-ranked German's turn to choke while serving for victory. Gasquet broke at love to stay in the match, but that was his only highlight following the 6-1, 5-2 lead. Phau regained control in the decisive 'breaker and won it seven points to four, booting this week's No. 4 seed out of the tournament.

    (1) Tomas Berdych d. Ivan Dodig 6-2, 6-4

This was not quite the 45-minute thrashing that Berdych handed Frederico Gil on Tuesday, but Berdych rolled over Dodig in one hour and 27 minutes on Wednesday to reach the Chennai quarterfinals. Berdych actually dropped serve for the first time this week during the opening set, but he abused his opponent's serve and converted all three of his break chances before closing it out at 5-2.

The sixth-ranked Czech seized complete command of the match with another break at 2-2 in the second. Chennai's No. 1 seed was not about to give it away, and he consolidated the lead on his way to finishing off the proceedings on serve at 5-4. Berdych, who faces unseeded Blaz Kavcic next, fired just one ace but overpowered Dodig from the baseline.

Gasquet is obviously the singles nom. Which doubles team, though? I've mainly been on Stadium court.
