  • Murray will stick with Corretja as coach for now

    12/21/10 7:05 PM | Johan Lindahl
Murray will stick with Corretja as coach for now Andy Murray won't be making any big coaching change until at least mid-year - and then only if he feels like it - according to the latest gossip off his website.

The Scot said that he will keep on working with Spain's Alex Corretja, who has been his advisor for several seasons and now seems to have morphed into a coaching role.

"Andy has taken time out from his busy pre-season fitness training to confirm that the current coaching set-up, with both Alex Corretja and (hitting partner) Dani Vallverdu, will continue into the first half of next year," read a statement on his site.

"The guys are busy planning their tournament schedule for the early part of 2011 and are, as a team, very focused on preparing in the best way possible for each tournament."

Murray split with fellow Scot Miles MacLagan last July and has never apparently bothered to look seriously for a new mentor, preferring to stick with Corretja and a rotating band of physios, trainers and various advizors, including his mother,

Team Murray - mum Tweeted that she showed the 37-year-old Corretja how to use a washing machine - are currently in Miami, where the world No. 4 is preparing to start his season on the New Year at the Hopman Cup mixed teams event with Laura Robson.

He will stick with his mum and mummy is showing Corretja how to wash.
Becker was right and so was Delp. Murray is a momma's boy.
Get rid of her.

painster: back with your unpleasant comments again I see. So Mr Dubious Morals, Facelift Becker is now your muse is he? Good luck with that one. How disrespectful of Judy Murray you are too. The fact that Andy aged 15 went to Spain on his own, tends to disprove your hypothesis.

deuce , 12/22/10 7:54 PM

Guess Delp is my muse too. Yes, "respectful" Judy took off and abandoned her sons when they were young. So he's got abandonment issues with her and wants mummy close now.

Pennster, when you have achieved at least 5% of what Andy has done, then you can shoot off your foul mouth ok! Your jealousy of Andy will get you no where, deal with it!

tsk tsk
Looks like carrot top didn't enjoy having little kids around.

Andy Murray's father: my role
William says he took over the family?s domestic duties when Judy left the family home in 1996, giving his sons the stable bedrock on which to build their tennis careers

There is nothing in the article to substantiate your claim that Judy abandoned her kids. It is stated in the article that she stayed nearby. From Andy's remarks in the article it is clear that the kids tried to spend time equally with both parents. As for the father's boast that he looked after the kids for 4 or 5 years by washing their clothes, washing dishes, cooking etc, it is clear that Judy had done that before she moved out. Big deal! No mother would boast about such chores.
Considering that she stayed nearby, the father must not have agreed to give her the family home which left her with no alternative but to move out.
Being a mother, she must have let him keep custody instead of tearing the kids apart between battling parents as famously illustrated in the story of King Solomon's wisdom in deciding who was the mother.
You must be having issues which lead you to project your hate onto Judy.

vij , 12/26/10 3:08 AM

Exactly Vij! Pennster has lots of issues. Instead of enjoying the sport, this pain prefers to focus all hatred on Andy. I'd like to know what Painster has achieved in life. Given the time spent on Andy-bashing, I'd say "nothing"!

He is a momma's boy and will not win anything good until he puts her on the back burner. Oedipus has got to grow up sometime. Between Playstation and mummy this guy is is in babyland.

pennster , 12/26/10 5:53 AM

Pennster,
Oedipus was an achiever. Remember he defeated his father and became king. Nadal has always stayed at home and so if you describe Andy as Momma's boy, you can describe Nadal with greater justice as Momma's boy. He also spends lots of time on playstations. So being Momma's boy and spending time on playstations is no bar to achievement. If anything, Momma is a source of strength.
It is you who needs to grow up and stop taking out your frustrations on Judy and Andy. Please spend more time on doing something constructive instead of Andy-bashing.

vij , 12/26/10 7:12 AM

Oedipus was an achiever.....Oooooops that leaves carrot top out.

pennster , 12/27/10 5:04 PM

That Oooooops reveals that you have tied yourself up in knots with your ridiculous arguments. Your sole aim is to bash Andy and in your anxiety to do so, you have ended up in this sorry mess.
Andy is already one of the best of this era. He has held the top 4 year-end 3 years in a row.No mean task. If he hasn't won slams, that is because he is playing in the era of Nadal and Federer who are probably greater than all other players in history. But, Andy is going to win slams at least from 2012. His plight is somewhat similar to that of Ivan Lendl who came of age at a time when there were Bjorn Borg, Connors, and McEnroe ruling the tennis courts. Lendl won his first slam at age 24 and ended his career with 8 GS titles.
When Andy starts winning GS titles, you can eat your hat. As an act of kindness, you will be permitted to add salt and pepper to your unappetizing dish.

vij , 12/28/10 5:48 PM

And Pennster, another measure of success is money. Has Andy earned money? You bet! Tons. He is top tier. You can turn a sickly shade of green.

vij , 12/28/10 5:58 PM

vij and jean, thanks for sticking up for Andy! What a sad, sour life painster must have, if he needs to spend the holiday period making nasty comments about Andy, rather than celebrating his own favourite players.

deuce , 12/28/10 6:11 PM

deuce, you are welcome. Although I am not a Andy fan, I hate it when people make unfair remarks about this highly talented player. I am certain that he is going to win multiple slams in his career.
