Andy Roddick will end his season-long self-imposed exile from Davis Cup play and will make himself available as Jim Courier takes over the US captaincy in 2011.
The ATP number eight sat out this season, mainly to rest after injuries from 2009.
The 28-year-old will make his first appearance in Davis Cup since early 2009, when he travels with the US to Chile for the first round in Santiago March 4-6. "I'm very excited to be back," Roddick said. "Davis Cup is something you should commit to for the entire season and not when it's convenient. Trying to win the Davis Cup again is a top priority for me in 2011."
The US team leader stands 31-11 in the worldwide competition and helped the US to the 2007 trophy. "Having Andy commit to the 2011 campaign is huge for our team," said Courier, who replaced Patrick McEnroe only recently and has yet to lead his first side into a tie.
"Andy not only brings his outstanding Davis Cup record but also his experience and team leadership, which will be invaluable to our efforts."
