New sporting powerhouse Serbia has put the stamp of approval on the exploits of the young nation's Davis Cup-winning side, issuing postage stamps in its honour.
While places like the US won't allow living persons on stamps, that certainly doesn't apply in Serbia, which cracked the world tennis elite with last weekend's 3-2 win over France in the Davis final.
So, Novak Djokovic and company are joining the likes of Roger Federer (Swiss stamp) as part of the national postal system. It took just one day after the final for the decision to get the all-clear in Belgrade.
The commemorative stamp celebrates "new sporting heroes," with action shots of the four winning players: Djokovic, Janko Tipsarevic, Viktor Troicki and Nenad Zimonjic.
It's possible that Djokovic has yet to see the latest effort, with the world No. 3 backing well away from the spotlight as he takes a well-deserved and brief three-week pause between his victorious 2010 season and the start of 2011. The Serbian tennis hero is due on court at the Hopman Cup mixed team event with Ana Ivanovic starting January 1 as Serbia bids to start the New Year by continuing its current tennis glory.
