    Monaco, Bellucci advance to second round Juan Monaco and Thomaz Bellucci are through to the second round at the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 Paris after recording victories over respective opponents Sam Querrey and Philipp Kohlschreiber.

    Juan Monaco def. Sam Querrey 7-6(7), 6-2

    World No. 24 Juan Monaco won his 30th ATP World Tour match on Tuesday, having upended world No. 20 Sam Querrey in straight sets. The Argentine withstood 11 aces from the American, as he came through in one hour and 25 minutes. The 26-year-old, who saved three of three break chances and held 10 consecutive service games during the match.

    Monaco is scheduled to face defending champion Novak Djokovic for a spot in the round of 16.

    Thomaz Bellucci def. Philipp Kohlschreiber 7-6(5), 5-7, 6-3

    Thomaz Bellucci survived a test in the opening round, as he held on to oust Philipp Kohlschreiber in three sets. The 22-year-old struck 21 aces en route to a 7-6(5), 5-7, 6-3 success in two hours and 11 minutes. Despite tallying 20 aces of his own, the German struggled with his second serve, unable to win more than 49% of the points.

    Bellucci will take on 10th seed Nikolay Davydenko in the second round.
