    St. Petersburg - Youzhny reaches quarterfinals World No. 10 Mikhail Youzhny survived a difficult round of 16 at the St. Petersburg Open as he held on to outlast compatriot Evgeny Donskoy in three sets. The top seed is through to the final eight.

    (1) Mikhail Youzhny def. (Q) Evgeny Donskoy 3-6, 6-3, 6-2

    Top seed Mikhail Youzhny made the quarterfinals after rallying to defeat qualifier Evgeny Donskoy on Thursday. The 28-year-old Russian converted five of 16 break points through two hours and nine minutes of play. Youzhny, through to his ninth ATP World Tour quarterfinal of the season, broke serve three times in the deciding set.

    He will face 8th seed Victor Hanescu in the quarterfinals. The Romanian upended qualifier Rajeev Ram in the round of 16, 7-6(1), 3-6, 6-3.

    (WC) Dmitry Tursunov def. (4) Yen-Hsun Lu 6-1, 6-4

    Wildcard Dmitry Tursunov advanced to the last eight following his straight-set victory over fourth seed Yen-Hsun Lu. The 27-year-old Russian held nine of nine service games without facing a break point. Tursunov, who earned three breaks of serve in the match, struck five aces in just an hour of competition.

    He is scheduled to meet Alexandr Dolgopolov for a place in the semifinals. Dolgopolov defeated veteran Rainer Schuettler in the round of 16, 6-4, 6-2.
