Fifth seed Stanislas Wawrinka is through to the If Stockholm Open quarterfinal following his hard-fought win over Robin Haase. The Swiss is joined by Jarkko Nieminen, who upset third seed Tomas Berdych in straight sets.

World No. 21 Stanislas Wawrinka made the last eight after outlasting round of 16 opponent Robin Haase on Wednesday. The Swiss struck 12 aces and saved 10 of 11 break points through two hours and 27 minutes of play. The 25-year-old is through to his third hard-court quarterfinal of the season, adding to previous runs in Chennai (finalist) and the US Open.
Wawrinka is next to face either world No. 2 Roger Federer or Taylor Dent in the quarterfinal.
Jarkko Nieminen def. (3) Tomas Berdych 6-1, 6-4
Jarkko Nieminen continued his solid hard-court effort with a 6-1, 6-4 victory against third seed Tomas Berdych. The Finn, winless in four previous matches with the Czech, held nine of nine service games to seal the contest in 86 minutes. Despite hitting nine aces, Berdych struggled on serve, unable to win more than 48% of his second-serve points.
Nieminen will take on either James Blake or qualifier Matthias Bachinger for a place in the semifinals.
