World No. 21 Stanislas Wawrinka made a strong start at the If Stockholm Open on Monday, having taken out Andreas Seppi in straight sets. The Swiss is joined in round two by Jarkko Nieminen, who rallied to win in three sets.

Fifth seed Stanislas Wawrinka is through to the second round, following his 6-2, 6-2 victory over Andreas Seppi. After trailing by an early service break, Wawrinka captured 12 of 14 games to seal a win in 79 minutes. The 25-year-old completed the day with 7 aces and five of 16 break chances converted.
Wawrinka is set to face either Robin Haase or qualifier Filip Prpic for a place in the quarterfinal.
Jarkko Nieminen def. Michael Berrer 4-6, 6-1, 6-4
Jarkko Nieminen reached the second round late Monday, having rallied to defeat Michael Berrer in three sets. After splitting the first two sets, the Finn earned a critical service break at 4-4 in the decider. The 29-year-old, who broke serve four times in nearly two hours of play, ended the match with 80% of his first-service points captured.
Nieminen will take on third seed Tomas Berdych in the round of 16.
