    Tokyo - Del Potro falls to Lopez Former Japan Open finalist Juan Martin Del Potro suffered an early exit to sixth seed Feliciano Lopez on Monday. The Spaniard is joined in the second round by compatriot Daniel Gimeno-Traver, who defeated Eduardo Schwank.

    Sixth seed Feliciano Lopez is through to the second round after taking out Juan Martin Del Potro in straight sets, 6-3, 6-0. The Spaniard struck 11 aces and saved 11 of 12 break chances through one hour and 22 minutes. The 29-year-old, ranked world No. 23, improved his season record to 26-19.

    Lopez will face either qualifier Rajeev Ram or Bangkok champion Guillermo Garcia-Lopez in the next round.

    Daniel Gimeno-Traver def. Eduardo Schwank 6-4, 6-4

    World No. 59 Daniel Gimeno-Traver advanced by virtue of his 6-4, 6-4, opening-round win over Eduardo Schwank. The Spaniard, who hit a dozen aces during the match, held 10 of 10 service games. The 25-year-old captured his 16th tour-level victory in one hour and 41 minutes of play.

    Gimeno-Traver is slated to meet either Bangkok finalist Jarkko Nieminen or defending champion Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in round two.
