Jarkko Nieminen is through to the PTT Thailand Open semifinal after posting a straight-set success over third seed Jurgen Melzer on Friday. Benjamin Becker also advanced following his victory against compatriot Daniel Brands.

World No. 60 Jarkko Nieminen earned his fourth consecutive victory over third seed Jurgen Melzer on Friday afternoon. The 29-year-old Finn struck eight aces en route to a straight-set victory in 74 minutes. Melzer struggled with his second serve, unable to win more than 41% of the points. With the quarterfinal-round win, Nieminen is through to his first tour-level semi since Delray Beach.
Nieminen is scheduled to face Benjamin Becker for a place in the championship.

Becker continued his Bangkok run with a 6-4, 6-2 win against fellow German Daniel Brands on Friday. The 29-year-old passed through the match unbroken, having captured 87% of his first-service points through 57 minutes of play. The 2007 PTT Thailand Open finalist made his third ATP World Tour semifinal of the season.
