Bare-chested and barefoot Fernando Verdasco caught the attention of female Thai tennis fans as he attended a kick boxing clinic at the Thailand Open, with some technical tips from soon-to-retire player Paradorn Srichaphan.
Second seed Verdasco said he's now got a taste for the Asian sport. "I would love to learn more Thai boxing," said the No. 8 played in the world. "I’ve always loved martial arts so maybe when I stop playing tennis I can learn some more. It was a lot of fun to learn some of the moves today."
Easy-on-the-eye Verdasco and the ripped Paradorn - Thailand's top player for a decade - both took to a stage at the Impact arena for a brief demonstration of some of the moves of the national martial arts sport under the guidance of one of the country's top fighters, a Beijing Olympic medalist.
Paradorn, working for a tournament sponsor, was pulled onto the stage in an impromptu move and showed off his own kick-boxing skills learned as a child in the kingdom. But for female fans, it was all about getting a close-up look at all of the abs on display.
Paradorn, who last played in spring 2007 due to a wrist injury, is to officially announce his retirement shortly.
