Fourth seed Juan Ignacio Chela made his second clay-court final of the season, following his straight-set dismissal of top-seeded defending champion Albert Montanes. The Argentine secured five of 10 service breaks en route to a 6-1, 6-3, semifinal-round win in 82 minutes. Montanes rallied to 3-4 from 1-4 down in the second set, but failed to hold serve in the ninth game.

World No. 105 Pablo Andujar advanced to his first ATP World Tour final with a three-set win over familiar rival Marcel Granollers. The 24-year-old Spaniard earned two key breaks in the decider to seal a 7-6(5), 4-6, 6-4 success in three hours and 12 minutes of play. The qualifier extended his Tour-level record to 7-5.
