Defending champion Albert Montanes made the BCR Open semifinal after defeating 8th seed Jeremy Chardy in three sets. The top seed is joined in the final four by compatriot Marcel Granollers, who rallied to oust Potito Starace.

Albert Montanes recorded his first win over quarterfinal-round opponent Jeremy Chardy Friday afternoon. The defending champion secured four of 9 break chances through one hour and 38 minutes of play. The World No. 22 won his 33rd ATP World Tour match of the season, and remains on track to capture a third clay-court title in 2010.
Montanes will meet 4th seed Juan Ignacio Chela for a spot in the final. The veteran Argentine downed German Bjorn Phau in the quarterfinal, 6-3, 6-3.
Marcel Granollers def. (3) Potito Starace 3-6, 7-6(7), 6-4
Marcel Granollers made the Bucharest final four on Friday, following his come-from-behind victory against third-seeded Potito Starace. The 24-year-old saved match point late in the second-set tie-break, en route to a three-set win in two hours and 30 minutes. The Spaniard is through to his first semifinal since January of last year.
Granollers is scheduled to battle Pablo Andujar in the next round. The qualifier took out Pablo Cuevas in the quarterfinal, 6-4, 6-4.
